Do you have a spaniel that you have no intention of taking shooting but want to provide an outlet for your Spaniel’s natural instincts?
Does your Spaniel have a strong desire to chase, run off or steal things?
Let’s face it, if you don’t, they will eventually (or have already) find their own ways to use their natural behaviour, which may not be to your liking, such as running off to chase birds or stealing your socks.
Why not give your Spaniel an opportunity to channel their natural instincts and develop a stronger bond with them all at the same time.
As a result, your Spaniel will want to spend more time with you and also no more unwanted sock stealing – sound good?
Spaniel training for pet dogs is all about teaching your dog to ‘find it’, retrieving skills and good behaviours, just like they would learn if there were working as a gundog out in the field.
I am not what you would probably expect from a Spaniel trainer. I want owners to learn in a fun and non ‘military way’.
I don’t use guns or birds instead I use canvas dummies or anything else you want your dog to retrieve. It’s all about fun but no guns.
Spaniels are much happier, when they are doing a ‘job’, doing what they are bred to do.
What will your dog learn in spaniel training;
- How to retrieve – fetch something, bring it back and deliver it to your hand
- Breed specific games that will tire your spaniel out.
- work off lead alongside you despite all the distractions while maintaining focus
- Whistle work – recall, sit, stop and hunt
- Heel work
- listen to you, even on the hunt
The benefits of spaniel training;
- better relationship you will develop with your gundog
- More fun with your gundog.
- give your gundog an outlet for his or her natural behaviour
- less boredom and destructive behaviours
- well mannered Spaniel
- happy and fulfilled Spaniel.
- You will be able to implement all the Spaniel games in your everyday walks.
- builds confidence in both owner and Spaniel.
I can guarantee once you get started you won’t want to stop. That was me all those years ago. It has done wonders for Finn and Rose. It’s highly addictive, rewarding and 100% fun.

THIS IS WHAT MY LOVELY CLIENTS THOUGHT OF MY SPANIEL TRAINING

‘I came to gundog workshop, I want my springer to be a working gun dog and you can never learn enough. I enjoyed the calmness of the workshop. The biggest takeaway was never worry about going back to basics or baby steps when it goes wrong, Great session, you can’t believe how proud I was of Tia, you always make me feel relaxed and confident, thank you. By the way, Tia is knackered been asleep since we got home.’ – Laura and Tia.

‘We wanted to come for an introduction/ taster session with Nellie to see if it was something that would be good for her to do. We enjoyed it all, it was good for us to see the more experienced dog and handler, we got some good tips to take away with us too. Our biggest takeaway was probably that dogs should be walking on their walks and not ‘self employed’ that’s not something that we’d really thought about before. The only thing to add is thank you for a super session, we were pleasantly surprised that Nellie wasn’t more distracted with the passers by and the dogs playing fetch’ – Fiona. Aimee and Nellie
